Invited Oral Presentation Paper Guidelines
Oral Presentations at the Conference
An electronic MS PowerPoint or Adobe PDF version of your presentation must be e-mailed to Erik Secula by May 4, 2009. If you are unable to send the file via e-mail, please mail a CD to arrive by May 4th. All presentations will be preloaded on a computer located within the main auditorium.
Abstract Booklet
An abstract booklet will be available at the start of the conference for all attendees. Your previously submitted one-page abstract will be reproduced for this booklet. If you would like to make changes to your abstract, please email the altered Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF version to Erik Secula by March 16, 2009.
Conference Proceedings
The Conference Proceedings will be published by the American Institute of Physics (AIP) in a hardback book, along with a CD-ROM. Both the invited and the contributed poster papers will be published and are expected to provide a foundation for R&D activities in the semiconductor characterization community for the next decade.
Your manuscript, including figures, tables, and references, may be up to 10 pages long. Please provide a list of 6 to 10 key words for the Topic Index of the Proceedings. Your manuscript is due to be received by May 29, 2009. Manuscripts received after this date may not be included in the proceedings.
We plan to have the conference proceedings printed in black and white. Color images may be supplied for the CD-ROM, which will be included with the book. If the author would like to have the color figures printed in the hardbound book, the publisher will charge the author $350 per color page. Please contact Erik Secula if you would like additional details.
Author Instructions / Manuscript Template
Please use the AIP Author Instructions and Manuscript Template when preparing your manuscript. Please remember that your manuscript must be accompanied by an AIP Transfer of Copyright Agreement, completed and signed by at least one author and, if applicable, a Permissions Request Form to demonstrate permission for use of previously published materials from a book or journal.
*Note: most publication delays are directly related to missing permission forms, usually for figures previously published elsewhere. Please be sure to obtain your permission forms before the May 29th paper deadline.
Submitting Your Manuscript
For the 2009 conference, we will no longer be accepting paper copies of manuscripts. If this poses a serious problem for you, please email Erik Secula.
- File must be submitted as postscript or Adobe Acrobat pdf.
- Type 1 Adobe fonts are acceptable and work best. Authors must make sure to embed all fonts and graphics when saving the file. Missing fonts often present problems.
- Set the graphics for 600 dpi resolution. Scanning in figures at 300 dpi resolution will not produce acceptable output at the printer. If you plan on submitting conference photographs, the digital files (for example, jpg) must be high resolution files. A minimum of 600 dpi is recommended. While photographs submitted at 72 dpi or even 300 dpi will look fine on your screen, they do not print well in the proceedings.
- Further instructions on the PDF conversion process are available here.
- E-mail the electronic file to erik.secula@nist.gov.
- Copyright and other applicable permission forms should be e-mailed or faxed to Erik Secula at 301-975-6021
